Cancer Detector: Gum and get it!
According to cancer research centers, an Alabama company called Volatile Analysis is currently experimenting with gum to create a more efficient way to detect cancer.  Resulting from the research, Volatile Analysis is using gum to detect whether certain chemicals are present in volatiles, which are found in an individual's saliva.  President and CEO of Volatile Analysis Katherine Bazemore has described that they are using gum as the determinant because it remains in the mouth for extended periods of time and is durable enough to withstand testing.  It is also relayed that these sticks of gum could be a more accurate determinant of cancer than blood and urine tests.  Another bonus is that the gum is said to taste similar to typical candy flavors.  Well, I guess we'll find out if White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is cancer free two times over, and by noon...

Removing Gender Stereotypes: Ban the word "man?"
A local governmental in Southern England has recently passed a motion to remove the word "man" from their position titles.  Councillor for Harlow District Council, Emma Toal, brought about the reform, in an attempt to start using gender neutral titles including chair-person instead of chair-man, and so on.  While England's Conservative Party fought against the reform, the motion was eventually passed and is being implemented immediately.  Aw man...I mean person!  Aw person!

Amazon Third-Party Sellers: What the hack!
It has recently been announced that third-party Amazon sellers have been the most recent victims to foreign hacking.  Over the recent weeks, hackers have been able to manipulate cyber-credentials to post fake deals on their website and steal cash from customers.  More than a dozen third-party sellers have reported stolen sales of $15-100 thousand from hackers, and are demanding reimbursement from Amazon.  Although resulting from recent surveys, most Amazon customers couldn't care less as long as it doesn't affect their membership for Amazon Prime.  I guess this explains their new logo.

St. Louis Cardinals Home Opening Series: What a hit!
This week the St. Louis Cardinals are hosting the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs for their home opening series.  While the Cardinals lost 2-1 to the Cubs on Tuesday night, the real headline is coming from Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, Piscotty was hit in the right elbow by a pitch, wailed in the left elbow while stealing second base, and nailed in the head while running home.  While he eventually scored the Cardinals only run of the game, social media went ballistic after this poor ballplayer took a beating all in one inning.  Rumors are circulating that Stephen Piscotty was then contacted by Pitbull, inquiring about his services, considering he hasn't had a hit in years.

2020 Election: Trump vs...Clinton??
On Tuesday, Chelsea Clinton hinted at a potential Presidential run in 2020, after being asked who would best be suited to take down President Trump.  While the subject was obviously still a touchy subject for Mrs. Clinton, following the upset election, she stated that an acclaimed Democrat, far removed from current headlines, would be the best candidate.  Chelsea Clinton did state that she is not currently planning on running for office, although she didn't rule out the possibility to redeem the 2016 loss, and dethrone "The Donald."  Well, you all know the saying, if at first...your family loses the most embarrassing election of all time...try, try again!  But more importantly, who will Ivanka vote for?

From Missing Handshakes to Missing Jerseys: Your Weekly Briefing

This week was very dense with news coming out of the entertainment industry, with your average and expected pinch of spice from Washington D.C.  Find out which country was given the cold shoulder by President Trump, where on Earth they found Tom Brady's $500,000 jersey, what common game show made headlines, and which beverage chain has decided to remove its most beloved drink.

Merkel Visits The White House: Another day another mishap
On Saturday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the White House to meet with President Donald Trump for the first time.  Most media outlets were expecting the encounter to come off as awkward, since Trump was very critical of Germany during the campaign and because of the so-called "crush," Merkel had on Former President Obama.  According to reports, the two spoke about the current state of NATO and stimulating the German economy.  Naturally, eyebrows were raised when German Chancellor Merkel asked for a handshake to no avail from President Trump.  Well, we might as well cross them off the list.

Brady's Jersey: Mess with the GOAT and you'll get the horns
On Monday evening, Tom Brady's MVP winning Super Bowl LI jersey, as well as his Super Bowl XLIX jersey, were found and acquired in Mexico, of all places.  With the cooperation of Mexican authorities and the United States FBI, officials were able to track down the missing jersey.  The man who stole Brady's jersey is identified as Martin Mauricio Ortega, a former writer for the Mexican newspaper, Diario La Prensa.  According to video surveillance, Mr. Ortega was granted access to the field and locker room with a media pass.  Unfortunately, it has been speculated that the media team was allowed into the locker room too early, and Mr. Ortega was able to abuse his power, get into Mr. Brady's equipment bag, swipe the jersey, and escape the stadium before anyone was aware of the theft.  Although, I think we know what triggered the Mexican reporter...

Wheel of Mis-fortune: The worst guess ever?
Wheel of Fortune is making headlines for a hilariously incorrect guess by one of their recent contestants.  Game show host Pat Sajak tried desperately to keep a straight face when a contestant named Kevin was one letter away from correctly guessing the "Play Title," in which he clearly has never heard of, by guessing the letter "K."

While Kevin was clearly embarrassed for looking so foolish on national television, it's still not as bad as Donald Trump's Wheel of Fortune blunder.

From Korean Madness to March Madness: Your Weekly Briefing

This week was very dense in international news rather than just domestic, government media coverage.  Find out which country was forced to impeach a historic President, why March Madness has turned into March Sadness, how bad Nor'easter Stella turned out, and why Janet Yellen feels confident in the world economy.

South Korea: Are troubling Presidents contagious?
Last Friday, the Korean Constitutional Court voted unanimously to impeach their first female President Park Geun-hye.  The vote came after months of protesting, which initially began in October 2016, started by a small South Korean University.  Although, government officials were finally pushed overboard after tens of thousands of South Korean protestors occupied downtown Seoul holding candles and flags, calling for her impeachment, following a major political scandal in her administration.  Copy cats.

March Madness: The science of bracketology
On Sunday night, the NCAAM Selection Committee released the 2017 March Madness Bracket sending basketball fans into a frenzy.  Following Super Bowl LI, sports fans have suffered for a month, awaiting another major sporting event.  To no one's surprise, Gonzaga, Villanova, Kansas, and North Carolina all snatched #1 seeds, while Syracuse and Pitt were snubbed from the tournament altogether.  Unfortunately, many Americans are upset because President Trump is not continuing President Obama's tradition of filling out a bracket on live television.  On the upside, there are rumors Kellyanne Conway will be filling out an alternative brack-et.

Nor'easter Stella: Let the spring break jokes begin
Into the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, Nor'easter Stella hit fifteen states with several inches of snow.  This blizzard came as a shock to most East Coast families, not expecting a major snow storm in the middle of March.  Naturally, President Trump met with Washington D.C. Mayor Bowser and Metro General Manager Paul Widefeld about incoming storm preparations.  Not only did eight states proclaim a state of emergency, but schools up and down the coast canceled schools as early as Monday evening.  While most states received over six inches of snow, the city of Damascus, Pennsylvania received a whopping 30 inches.  Surprisingly, even Penn State University cancelled classes, despite being one of the most reluctant universities to delay classes due to inclement weather.  I think we know who to thank.

Rate Hikes: Janet Yellen announces coming changes
Following the DOW hitting 20,000 for the first time ever, a couple weeks ago, Fed Chair Janet Yellen finally announced that Americans should expect rate hikes in the coming weeks.  Since the New York Stock Exchange is performing so well, more companies have the disposable income to invest in expenditures.  With consumer confidence also rising, companies feel comfortable with taking out loans to invest in future assets.  In turn, there needs to be money for companies to borrow, which is why Janet Yellen is increasing rates.  Due to higher return on investments, the average American would make more profit for depositing their money into the bank.  Although, according to inside sources, as soon as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie heard the word hike, he said, "I'm out."

From The Oscars to The Oscars: Your Weekly Briefing

While a lot transpired this week in the news, the funniest news came out of the Oscars.  While most viewers were shocked by the conclusion of the award show, there were plenty of lesser known screw-ups that most people didn't hear about.  Find out who lost best picture, who had clarify they aren't dead, and who exactly is Gary from the Oscars...?

The Oscars: And the Oscar for Best Picture goes too...
On Sunday night, the 89th Oscars took placed in the Dolby Theatre, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, honoring the best pictures from 2016.  Millions of people across the world tuned in to see who would win leading actor, leading actress, and best picture.  Unfortunately, when it was time to announce Best Picture, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed the card for "Actress in a Leading Role," which had already been awarded to Emma Stone.  When the time came to announce the winner, Warren looked at the card in confusion and handed it to Faye, who panicked and read out La La Land.  Things got worse when this mistake wasn't addressed until the middle of La La Land's acceptance speech, forcing Oscar officials to announce that the true winner was Moonlight.  This drew loud gasps and screams from Hollywood elites who couldn't believe what had just transpired to the cast of La La Land.

Emotions were all over the place considering the cast of La La Land was forced to hand over their Oscar to the cast of Moonlight, presenter Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope, and host Jimmy Kimmel was that close to successfully hosting the Oscars.  And then there was this.

In Memoriam: Or not...
During the middle of the show, singer and song writer Sara Bareilles came out and performed a beautiful ballad in memoriam of those in Hollywood that lost their lives this past year.  The picture and video montage was a tribute to the most beloved actors, actresses, directors, producers, and many more including Carrie Fisher, Bill Paxton, and George Michael.  Unfortunately, it turns out there was a mishap on one of the obituary slides.  In one of the slides, the academy was honoring Costume Designer Janet Patterson but accidentally put a picture of the alive and well Australian film producer Jan Chapman.

This drew stark criticism on social media from several individuals trying to point out the mistake and clarify that Jan Chapman is not dead.  You know it's a bad mistake when even President Donald Trump's son is tweeting about it.

Hollywood Tourists Treated to a Surprise: Hollywood elites treated to an even bigger surprise...

From Typos to North Korea: Your Weekly Briefing

During the week, a lot of news was generated, ranging anywhere from the White House to North Korea.  Find out which Department made not one, but two, grammatical errors in tweets, what disaster occurred in Northern California, which reality star made history, and what Kim Jong-Un is up to now.

US Department of Education: Caught in a W.E.B. of mistakes
Over the weekend, the White House expressed several public statements to begin the celebration of Black History Month.  Unfortunately, the celebrations were halted when the US Department of Education tweeted out a message containing a harsh typo.  The owner of the Twitter was reviled for spelling the name, W.E.B. Du Bois as such.

Photo Drawn From: Twitter

Not only did they incorrectly spell the name of an African-American activist, but in a following tweet the Department of Education wished their "apologizes," rather than their "apologies."  This is such a large story because this is the second, of many times, that the Department on Education has misspelled sentences.  Critics continued to trash Education Secretary Betsy DeVos on Twitter, despite the fact that she did not write the tweet.  Although when first informed of the mistake, it seems as if Secretary DeVos was more concerned because they honored W.E.B. DeBois but forget to honor W.E.B. DeGurls.

Floods in Oroville, California: Dam it
In Oroville, California, water behind a dam has begun to pour over the emergency spillway and flood the nearby city.  The Oroville Dam was built over 50 years ago, and has never overflowed in the reservoir's history.  Dam operators are currently trying to re-route the flood routes to prevent local stores and houses from becoming flooded.  In response, California Governor Jerry Brown has issued a State of Emergency in Oroville, in preparation for the "worst case scenario."  On the other hand, maybe this is just a sign that the California drought is over!

From Old Man Brady to Old Man Sanders: Your Weekly Briefing

For once in a long time, a lot transpired in the news this week that doesn't involve politics.  Find out what records were broken in Super Bowl LI, what Tom Brady lost (no it's not the game), and what the heck Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz debated about.

Super Bowl LI: Breaking records but losing gear
On Sunday night, the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 34-28 in overtime.  Not only was this game considered the "best" Super Bowl game in the history of the National Football League, but a multitude of records were broken that night.  First off, Super Bowl LI was the only Super Bowl to ever go into overtime.  Second, the largest comeback in Super Bowl history was 10 points until Sunday night, where the Patriots went on a 31-0 run after being down by 25 points in the third quarter.  Finally, and probably most significantly, Tom Brady continued to set records by getting his fifth Super Bowl ring and his fourth Super Bowl MVP, the most in history.  Unfortunately, Tom Brady was forced down from Cloud 9 after finding out his game jersey had been taken from his equipment bag.  Although, this is only the second most valuable piece of memorabilia ever lost, second to Robert Kraft's Super Bowl ring currently in the possession of Vladimir Putin.

Super Bowl Commercials: Making a statement
Every year, millions of individuals tune into the big game simply to watch the creative or odd commercials that tend to stand out.  Considering the divisive year America has had, many were anticipating political statements from various companies.  For example, Budweiser's commercial took a subtle shot at our current immigration policy, 10 Haircare's commercial took a shot at our President's hair, and even Lady Gaga's halftime performance took a shot at our country's diversity.  This year, many individuals were disappointed with the content of the commercials, while some individuals were simply annoyed with the various political statements.  According to public opinion, the most annoying commercial was overwhelmingly this advertisement...

Debate Night: Sanders vs. Cruz?
On Tuesday night, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders faced off against Texas Senator Ted Cruz in a debate on the fate of Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act.  The CNN Exclusive was hosted by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, and featured both runner-up candidates from the Democratic and Republican primaries.  While the event was promoted as a debate, the format also consisted of questions from the audience, in the form of a town hall.  Senator Sanders took to defending Obamacare and the necessity to reform certain aspects of the act, while Senator Cruz explained his desire to have the ACA repealed and replaced simultaneously.  Naturally, Ted Cruz fielded some difficult questions from the audience and was forced on the defensive for the majority of the night.  There was even some speculation that CNN wrote the questions ahead of time, rather than allowing local individuals to ask their own questions.  This conspiracy came after a camera caught a woman holding a slip of paper that said, "Your Question."

Although nobody cares if it was written by CNN or the woman because no one was watching the debate.

From Airports to Airheads: Your Weekly Briefing

As another week has gone by, more executive orders were signed, more individuals protested, and more controversial comments were made.  Find out which movie received five stars from Trump, which social media movement is trending, and which celebrity compared the President to a terrorist group.

Airport Controversy: Another day another protest
Over the weekend, thousands of Americans took to airports across the country, in an effort to protest President Trump's temporary travel ban of seven Middle-Eastern countries.  Airports ranging from JFK to LAX were under scrutiny after detaining up to a dozen passengers traveling from these countries.  The controversy was whether these individuals should remain in custody, despite already owning Visas.  More controversy stirred over President Trump hosting a movie night in the White House, during these protests, where the First Family enjoyed a screening of "Finding Dory."  Well, we might not know what is in store for this controversial travel ban, but at least the President knows how they found Dory.

Twitter Trends: No, it's not the President this time
Another trending topic over the weekend was the social media movement #DeleteUber.  Resulting from the President's travel ban, the New York City Taxi Workers Alliance called for an immediate halt of taxi services in the Northeastern region of the United States.  Due to an absence of public transportation, Uber was quick to snatch up the desperate airport customers.  Protestors were insulted that Uber would promote their own revenues, and therefore undermine the movement in its entirety.  This led to thousands of individuals deleting their Uber app, and posting pictures of the proof on social media with the #DeleteUber.  While it is still unclear on who started this fairly large trend, I think we have an idea...

Whoopi Speaks Out: Enjoy the view
During an episode of the television show, The View, Whoopi Goldberg compared President Trump to the Taliban.  On Tuesday, Whoopi Goldberg made, yet another, controversial comment stating that Trump's views towards women and religion make him very similar to that of the Taliban.  It is fairly obvious that the hosts of The View are not typically fond of President Trump, many are debating whether this time the women went too far.  This once again has stirred speculation about the inappropriate language used by Hollywood celebrities.  I mean c'mon, has Whoopi learned nothing from Madonna's questionable comments?

From Protests to POTUS: Your Weekly Briefing

The 58th Inauguration, of the 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump, naturally didn't come without controversy and backlash by the American public.  Find out who lashed out against our new President and how President Trump's first week has shaped out.

Swearing In: Does size matter?
Only hours after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th President, various news outlets already began to compare the 2017 Inauguration crowd size to Former President Barack Obama's in 2009.

Photo Drawn From: CNN

Media sources posted side-by-side comparisons showing an obvious lack of interest at President Trump's event.  The following day, Press Secretary Sean Spicer offered an impromptu news briefing in which he refuted crowd size critics, stating the photo was taken prior to the swearing in, security checks held up massive lines, and the white color stood out in the photos...but he wasn't talking about the floors.

44 to 45: Not so peaceful transition of power
While celebrations continued during the Presidential Parade on Pennsylvania Avenue, thousands of violent protests occurred several blocks down, in which the SWAT team was called.  Protestors were seen throwing rocks at local police, smashing glass with hammers, and setting cars on fire.  Over 200 people were arrested, while several local storefronts were destroyed including a large Starbucks.  Even though it was well known that these riots were an effort to delegitimize the current President, no one will ever know why they decided to destroy the Starbucks.  That's like Chris Christie creating legislation to ban M&Ms.

President Trump's First Day: Protests, marches, rallies, oh my
Saturday morning, around 250,000 women marched on the Washington D.C. National Mall to peacefully protest President Trump.  There were also several similar protests stretching across the nation, including Boston, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland.  Many celebrities, who analysts claim contributed to Hillary Clinton losing the election, made special appearances, such as Cher, Ariana Grande, Whoopi Goldberg, and Madonna.  Madonna is even in some hot water for her inappropriate language in regards to her comment about "blowing up the White House."  On a more serene note, most protestors simply held signs ranging from "Not My President" to "Hands Too Small, Can't Build A Wall" to "Nasty Women Vote."  Well, I guess not.

AFC and NFC Championships: Big Ben vs. Big Brady?
On Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Green Bay Packers, 44 to 21, in the NFC Championship and the New England Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 36 to 17, in the AFC Championship.  This officially sets up a well anticipated Super Bowl LI, between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots, after a quite disappointing playoff season.  This will be the Patriots' 9th Super Bowl appearance, a record high, and Tom Brady's 7th Super Bowl appearance, more than 28 NFL teams.  Fortunately, it seems the media, the NFL, and the viewing public have moved on from his recent Deflate-gate scandal.  Although, after seeing Brady wearing a coat on the sideline of Sunday night's game, there is now some speculation about a possible Inflate-gate.
